You MUST be ready at least 1/2 hour prior to your scheduled pick-up time. The driver may arrive 1/2 hour before or 15 minutes after your scheduled time, based upon his schedule and your destination.
- Please watch for the driver to arrive, then exit your home after he pulls to a stop. Our buses will stop at the curb and NOT enter your drive.
- The driver will wait up to five minutes for you to exit your home. If he does not see you, he will attempt to phone you. If the driver does not see you exit your home within five minutes of his arrival and receives no answer on the phone, you will be considered a no-show and he will leave. The driver has to stay on schedule for other riders.

Oakwood Golden Age Center (GAC) provides a myriad of services to Oakwood Village adults sixty years of age and older. The Center has a staff with many years experience serving seniors. The Oakwood Golden Age Center’s licensed social worker (LSW) is extremely knowledgeable about senior issues and services; these include: Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare D, social security and insurance benefits, help with financial concerns, housing, homemaker and personal care assistance. The LSW can assist seniors and their families with care giving concerns, information and referral, the coordination of health care, assisted living and nursing home placement. Oakwood GAC partners with all agencies and organizations providing services to seniors in order to ensure that clients’ needs are met.
Oakwood GAC has both a home delivered and a congregate meal program Monday through Friday. Staff prepares and packages hot, nutritious meals that are delivered to homebound seniors five days a week. The congregate meal program provides a hot, nutritious lunch to those seniors wanting to come into the center. Transportation is provided to and from the center for the lunch program and other center based services and events.
The center offers a monthly nurse and podiatrist clinic; annual flu shots; numerous health screenings and speakers on a variety of health and wellness topics. There is live entertainment during the lunch hour twice a month; there are monthly birthday parties, holiday celebrations and seasonal programs. Oakwood GAC also offers older adults the opportunity to volunteer and assist staff.
The Oakwood Golden Age Center strives to provide a welcoming place where seniors can congregate in a comfortable, non-threatening environment; where they can socialize and avoid isolation; where their spirits can be nourished; where they can feel comfortable asking for assistance and be assured that all personal issues are dealt with both respect and confidentiality. The staff works to help Oakwood’s older adults remain connected to their community while living independently in their homes.
